A FUNNYMAN from Oldbury is appealing for bonkers and eccentric people to join him performing at a weekly comedy night.

Andy Robinson's Comedy Carousel starts at the Glee Club, Birmingham, on Thursday, and he wants people with weird and wonderful talents to perform alongside top comedians from across the UK.

The nights will feature a high level of audience interaction, live use of the internet and a competitive element that will see up-and-coming performers pitting their wits against each other.

Andy said: “With this new night I’m looking to combine all the fun, expectation and atmosphere of a Victorian music hall with 21st century technologies.

"We’ll be looking for everyone from contortionists to kazoo orchestras, anyone with an unusual talent and a desire to perform."

He added: "The overall aim is to give Thursday night audiences a completely unique one-off experience; all underpinned by three top comics to ensure the laughs keep coming.”

Owner of The Glee Club Mark Tughan said: “Comedy nights have remained pretty much the same for the last 20 years.

"With this new night we’re looking to put something on that is really unique. Andy is a seasoned performer and has worked alongside the best in the business, so we know that the Comedy Carousel is something audiences will never forget."

He added: "To further whet the appetites of comedy and live performance lovers, we’ve created a new menu called the Real Food Canteen, Andy’s Comedy Carousel will be Birmingham’s best value entertainment for Thursday nights.”
