ABOUT 150 Halesowen Muslims took part in an international rally in Hampshire against extremism during which they condemned the taking of life in the name of Islam.

More than 33,000 delegates from 97 countries gathered last weekend to mark the UK’s 48th Jalsa Salana, celebrating the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s 125th anniversary.

His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Caliph of the community, spoke of peace and inclusion during the three days of the convention.

Local president Dr Masood Majoka said: “It was a unique event and we were delighted that Halesowen, Sandwell and Dudley were represented at the convention as well.

“In a world full of tension and conflict the Jalsa is a haven of peace and true harmony where the world comes together to focus on prayer and peace.”
