A GLOBE-TROTTING Halesowen filmmaker has conquered his biggest challenge yet - conquering 5000km of rural back roads in China.
Ricardo Alfonso, aged 28, has been living in Beijing for over four years working in the media industry but his Conquering Southern China series is his most successful yet.
The former Halesowen College student produced, directed and edited the series which followed YouTube video bloggers Winston Sterzel and Matthew Tye as they tried to traverse some of the most dangerous roads on the planet.
He said: "I just left a state media company called China Radio International after working for them for two years to go solo as I was directing documentaries for the TV side of that organization.
"I've been all over China, in the very rural areas, shooting documentaries, and I've had my documentaries shown on several Chinese TV channels."
He added: "I recently produced and directed a new documentary series called, "Conquering Southern China," which followed Winston and Matthew as they bike 5000km through the weirdest and wildest back roads of southern China.
"Along the way they tackle the toughest roads, meet fascinating locals, try weird food and witness breathtaking landscapes, it is China like you’ve never seen it before."
The Shenley Court High School old boy had to drive the follow car and organise the trip to ensure everything went as smoothly as it could.
He added: "We ended up getting stuck on the mountains roads of Guangxi Province and had lots more adventures so the series has been getting great reviews in China and in western media."
