HALESOWEN College students from a range of courses have come together to launch the fourth Mayfly Festival – the biggest yet.
The music festival will be held on Friday (May 18) and has been organised by music performance and technology pupils, with support from students in photography, graphics, public services, media, dance and musical theatre.
Gates for the event open at 5.30pm at Old Halesonians Rugby Club, in Wassell Grove, where visitors will be treated to a range of music from the movies including The Blues Brothers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fight Club, and Rock of Ages.
Local businesses will be selling their products on the day and there will also be food and drinks stalls, while media students will also be showcasing their short film productions in the indoor cinema.
Organiser Steve McCarthy, course leader in music performance at the college, said: “This has been a fantastic experience for our students, they have organised this event while working with leaders in the industry.
“They have been self-motivated, confident and have been great asset working with a range of local firms and suppliers.”
Tickets cost £5 in advance (£8 on the door) and are available from the Facebook page @mayflyfest or from Steve McCarthy at Halesowen College.
