SUBWAY sandwich shop at Merry Hill has been allowed to re-open after a brief closure due to concerns about rodent activity at the eatery.
The shop, located on the lower mall at the shopping centre, was issued with a hygiene emergency prohibition order in a court hearing on Monday January 15.
The order was made against Birmingham based Sirtek (Dudley) Ltd, which operates the shop, under The Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013.
Dudley Council, however, has confirmed the shop has since been permitted to re-open after taking steps to address concerns raised about hygiene standards at the business.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: “After three consecutive days with no rodent activity, and satisfaction that pest-proofing and cleaning measures have been put in place, Subway has been allowed to re-open.”
Sirtek (Dudley) Ltd was also ordered to pay costs of £1,340.31 to Dudley Council, court documents show.
