WACKY racers from the Old Halesonians Rugby Club expect to have reached their £5,000 fundraising target for Birmingham Children’s Hospital after turning heads in Aberystwyth.
Around 10 souped up old bangers driven by the friends who drink at the Boat Inn sped off from the pub on Saturday donned in fancy dress for the Welsh seaside resort.
Themes included Starsky and Hutch, Ghost Busters, Blue Brothers and Batman and Robin and they received a warm welcome when their arrived on the promanade.
Group member John Clark said it had been a “fantastic” day, adding: “The people of Aberystwyth were fantastic and made many donations.”
The group was inspired to raise money for the hospital by five-year-old Lutley Primary School pupil Daisy May who has been treated for leukaemia.
