HALESOWEN Town know that nothing less than wins from their final two games is likely to earn them an Evo-Stik League Northern Division One South play-off place — starting with a crucial home clash against Carlton Town on Saturday (3pm).
John Hill’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by fourth-placed Stamford on Tuesday, Jean-Michel Gueyes’ 10th goal of the season cancelled out by Jordan Hempenstall’s equaliser.
Yeltz boss John Hill had mixed emotions about the result, saying: “Overall it was a good point but on chances we could have got the win against what was a very good side.
“I’m a little disappointed we didn’t come away with the win but we’ll take a point and I couldn’t fault the lads, they worked their socks off, the endeavour was top notch.”
Hill knows that Chasetown’s 3-0 win at Mickleover Sports has put them in the driving seat but, he said: “We expected that result, but we have just got to look to ourselves, and the one thing for sure is that in this league anyone can beat anyone which has been proven week in, week out.
“There have been so many surprise results this season that if you try to predict things you end up falling flat on your face.”
Injuries will play a part in the run-in with Joe Hull and Eric Bowen both ruled out for the season. Hill admitted: “They were massive blows for us. “Other than that we have players showing signs of wear and tear but that is inevitable as the pitches get harder.
“Carlton are a good side who have already beaten us this season so it will be very tough.”
