CAUSEWAY United boss Andy Mole is taking nothing for granted ahead of his side’s final Midland Alliance game of the season at home to third-bottom Highgate United on Saturday (3pm).

Mathematically, United could still slip into the bottom three if results went against them although victory in last night’s scheduled game with Studley would see them safe.

Two goals from Aaron Lloyd gave them a much needed 2-1 win over Tipton Town last weekend, all the more pleasing for Mole as his side showed the character to come from behind and ease their lingering relegation worries.

He said: “The worst case scenario is that we could still drop into the bottom three. Aaron’s goals gave us a big lift on Saturday but it is very tight down there.

“From 14th down to 22nd all the clubs are fighting hard and picking up points — one minute you think you’re safe then with all the games being played at the moment 24 hours later it’s all changed.

“A while back I said we’d turned the corner but there’s still work to do.”

Injury-wise, Mole reported several ‘niggles’ with four players carrying groin strains, something he puts down to the hard pitches for this time of year.

“We’ve also had a couple long term injuries and few carrying niggles over the past month but that’s purely down to the number of games we’re playing and the hard pitches. We’ve got 40 points which you would have thought would make us safe but we’ll just have to see.”

  •  Cradley Town will be looking for a strong finish as they embark on games against two of the West Midlands League’s bottom three sides.

Tonight they visit mid-table Wolverhampton Sporting Community (7.45pm) but then on Saturday go to third-bottom Willenhall Town (3pm).

On Wednesday, Town go to struggling Bustleholme (7.45) who have won just once this season shipping 131 goals in the process.

On Saturday they drew 1-1 at Dudley Sports, Chris Bladen’s goal earning a point for Duane Darby’s side.
