WITH Midland Alliance football finally assured for next season Andy Mole says he will be looking to bring fresh faces into his Causeway United side.

A 57th-minute goal from Aaron Lloyd secured a 1-0 win over Highgate United in their final game to finally extinguish any lingering relegation fears.

Now the United boss is looking to the future after returning for a second stint in charge for the last 19 games - the club’s third manager in a well-documented unsettled season.

He said: “The chairman (Carl Burley) asked me to come in and keep the players together, and keep us in the Alliance, so I’ve done the job I was asked to do. “It’s a relief for the club that we are staying up and that we didn’t have to wait on results of other sides who have two or three games still to play.

“Now it’s time for us to sit down and work out a plan for next season. “There is no money so it will be difficult but all the players are committed to staying with the club.

“Myself and assistant Mark Jones will go and watch a few games now and first and foremost we do want to freshen things up and bring in a bit of competition for places.”

Mole made it clear he is not expecting a repeat of this season’s low finish and is looking for Causeway to be in their more usual position in the upper reaches of the Alliance table.

He said: “I feel with the players we have already that we should be nearer the top of this division than the bottom. “The players know what it’s about, they have all been with us for a while and most have played more than 100 games for the club.

“Maybe they let themselves down a bit this season, perhaps they were unsettled by all the changes, but we can start afresh with a clean canvass now.”

l Cradley Town won 3-2 at Willenhall Town with goals from Chris Bladen, James Johnson and Spencer Blackham.

They were due to play West Midland Regional League basement side Bustleholme last night and on Saturday are at home to Wednesfield (3pm).
