AN OLDBURY church is celebrating its 150th anniversary this month with a series of events.
Causeway Green Methodist Church, Penncricket Lane, was established in 1863 and has been at the centre of the community ever since.
Valerie Gadd, from the church, said: “We are all looking forward to marking the 150th anniversary of the church.
“We have an aging congregation but we are all very committed to the church and we all try hard to keep it going and are delighted to reach 150 years as a church.”
On Saturday a Grand Anniversary Sale is being held at the church at which books, toys, chocolate shop, bric-a-brac, raffle, Christmas decorations, refreshments and cakes for sale.
Mrs Gadd said: “There will be plenty of bargains for sale at the church on Saturday between noon and 4pm and everyone is welcome.”
On Sunday, the church is holding a 150th celebration service at 11am which will be led by Reverend Edson Dube.
On Tuesday, October 22, the congregation are having a celebration lunch to mark the end of the festivities.
