LEGENDARY Oldbury band Dexy's have announced a Midlands gig this Summer just days before their first appearance at Glastonbury.
The band, formerly known as Dexy's Midnight Runners, were founded by Kevin Rowland in 1978 and went on to have massive success with Geno and Come On Eileen.
However, on the brink of world domination the band were beset by record release delays, bickering and fall-outs which hamstrung their ascent to the pinnacle of the music business.
However, their comeback two years ago was much more than the usual cashing in on nostalgia road that other bands have trodden.
The critically acclaimed One Day I’m Going To Soar live show followed the release of the 2012 album of the same name, their first in 22 years, was hailed by by both fans and critics.
Dexy's will be playing Kasbah in Coventry on Wednesday, June 25, their first show in the city for over 30 years.
Kevin Rowland, who lived on Apollo Road, said: “The performance will be the festival set - a slightly edited version of the One Day I’m Going To Soar Show, plus a few Dexy’s favourites.
"Sadly, Madeleine Hyland is unable to do the shows, but we are delighted that Siobhan Fahey will step in to play the female role."
And the frontman had a message for fans who will attend the concert: "Look good, you know we will.
Tickets for the Coventry gig are £25.00 and are on sale now at www.kasbahnightclub.com.
