With reference to your recent articles regarding the closure/redevelopment of the Maypole Pub in Bassnage Road, Halesowen.
As a resident living round the corner for over 40 years, I strongly object to the Pub being redeveloped into another convenience store. Just a short distance away you have a Tesco shop ( they also have another two in the area) and a short distance in the other direction you have a general store/newsagents in Thornhill Road which has been there for years and if this new store goes ahead it will probably be the end of that shop. Then there’s a Cost Cutter shop not far away on the main road.
Let’s hope the Friends of the Maypole win their campaign to keep the Pub open, if not, then the best solution would be to build new houses.
Let’s also hope Dudley Council refuse planning.
