The borough's war heroes are set to be honoured and meet up with old comrades at a special event in the town.

Veterans' Day will be marked by a special event at Dudley Concert Hall on Wednesday June 27 between 11am and 1pm.

The ceremony will be hosted by the Mayor of Dudley and will also feature music and displays from Dudley's archives service.

Dudley Council also plans to organise a presentation ceremony on the night for veterans living in the borough who have received a UK Armed Forces Veteran's Badge.

Margaret Gregory, organiser of the event, said: "I hope as many veterans as possible will contact us and come along to the event to meet up with old comrades and enjoy the entertainment on offer."

Any veterans who have not received a Veteran's Badge can apply for one by calling the Veterans Agency on 0800 169 2277 or they can apply in writing to the Veterans Agency at Thorton Cleveleys, Lancashire, FY5 3WP.

The badges are available to those who served in HM Armed Forces before or during World War II. Other groups who qualify for the badge include the Cyprus Regiment, Home Guard and Polish Forces under UK command.
