Sheila Hughes, chairman, welcomed members to the May meeting and thanked Edna Biggs for flowers on the chairman's table and the members who had helped to provoide refreshments at the last meeting.
Chairman mentioned how disappointed members were that there was only a short report and no photograph and the Townswoman' had been informed.
Treasurer Edna Biggs read the financial report. Nora Owen stated that choir would be holding an extra rehearsal to prepare for their future concerts. Halesowen News and Express and Star had printed reports on Guild meetings and Joyce Connor requested bottles and books for the sales table at the June meeting.
Details of possible trips were shown on the noice board and members were asked if they would support a tea party in the summer and it was agreed this should be held on July 18.
Mr John Smith in his talk on "History of Broadcasting" from its commencment in November 1922 right through to the appearance of TV in 1938 suspended until after the war, included tapes of tunes to jog our memories of programmes.
We alos heard voices of famous people such as Winston Churchill and Edward V111 in his abdication speech. Margaret Rowberry thanked Mr Smith for his comprehensive and interesting talk.
