Through your columns may I take this opportunity to respond, as a fellow user, to the recent disparaging remarks made by M Galligan concerning the condition of Halesowen Leisure Centres facilities.

As a long standing user of what was formerly Halesowen Pool, I have witnessed the evolution of this facility from a tired cash-starved public pool, with a few bits added on, to a vibrant Leisure Centre full of hope and direction.

I see scores of people coming and going on a daily basis, many of whom remark on the enthusiasm for the staff and their desire to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

Let's be honest, they must be doing something right there or the place would not be so well used, all day every day.

It has to be by far the busiest leisure facility in Dudley and I would argue that it is probably the most used public facility in Halesowen.

Perhaps it is in need of a cash injection, an extra cashier might help reduce the queues at the till, some cleaners to keep the place clean and support the phenomenal use it enjoys but, for all of this, the staff can still give you a warm welcome when you walk through the doors.

So come on, Halesowen folk, the town's Leisure Centre is one of the few success stories we have around here, so let's get behind it and give it our support, not our criticism, Well done Halesowen Leisure Centre, keep up the good work.

It is appreciated by many of us who visit you.
