Sandwell Council are warning prospective buyers of a green space in Rowley Regis, which is going up for auction this week, they have no chance of obtaining planning permission.
Freehold paddock land on the north side of Portway Hill, Rowley Regis, has been divided into smaller plots due to be auctioned at an event at Aston Villa Leisure Centre.
However, the Council is determined there will be no planning permission given to any development applications as the green open land is a key gap between the many built-up areas.
Sandwell Council leader Councillor Bill Thomas, who is also a Rowley councillor, said: "The Council has become aware that the owner of land off the north side of Portway Hill has sub-divided the land into small plots and some of these plots are to be auctioned by Cottons at their forthcoming auction sale.
"The land in question is strategic open space in the development plan for Sandwell within which development will not be permitted that would prejudice the character of the area.
"Prospective purchasers should be aware of the planning constraints that apply to the site and that the Council will vigorously oppose any development or change of use of this site in the foreseeable future."
