An Oldbury church has hit the fundraising trail after being landed with a repair bill of nearly £1,000.
Causeway Green Methodist Church, on Penncricket Lane, has been left counting the cost after a pair of one hundred-year-old leaded windows were smashed.
Treasurer Dave Cox said he believed the damage had been caused by a football but so far no one had come forward to own up.
Dave said: "There was quite a lot of damage done but it was not necessarily deliberate. The windows were very old so had reached a stage where they could not be repaired.
"They had a lot of sentimental value as well."
The seven foot tall windows were originally produced in memory of the current organist's relatives.
Dave said worshippers had been rallying round to help raise funds, and revealed the church had reached an agreement with a local firm who will replace the windows.
A sale of 50 pence items saw around £300 raised and Dave has confirmed there will be more events to come.
Dave said: "We are probably about halfway to raising the money.
"Rather than look on the negative side we have tried to stay positive and the support from the community has been great."
