A group of Cradley Heath residents are celebrating after their local councillor and MP stepped in to help resolve unsightly problems with their area.
Residents of Delingpole Walk had been putting up with unsightly builders' rubbish and litter strewn around the area, missed rubbish collections, broken street lighting, blocked street drains and broken paving slabs until they turned to Sylvia Heal MP and Councillor Ann Shackleton for help.
The pair discovered Sandwell Council and Persimmon Homes Ltd has not agreed on a formal adoption of the estate, and until one had been agreed, the council had no legal obligation to carry out the work.
Sylvia Heal MP said: "None of the residents appeared to know this position.
"I am glad to say the negotiations between the council and the developer have been completed and the council's legal section will be drawing up the adoption order in the next few days.
"This is a perfect illustration of MP and local councillors working together to resolve a situation for their constituents."
