I read with interest your leading article relating to Lyndon Harris and to be fair to him I think a little more should be said. He was reclusive but he was not a recluse. He was a very private man.
I am a member of the Halesowen United Church in Hagley Road, where Lyndon was a regular attender. He also played the organ and joined us every Friday morning when we met for coffee, tea and biscuits inviting anyone who wished to join us.
He was also a visitor to the gym and could be seen jogging in the town.
He was totally uninterested in the value of his paintings and I periodically tried to persuade him to let us have one of them for the church. All to no avail - he never responded verbally, merely restricted himself to an enigmatic smile reminiscent of the Mona Lisa.
It must have been the artist in him.
