A HALESOWEN roofing company has marked 25 years in the trade by being listed in the London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1000 companies to Inspire Britain’.
Staff at the Mucklow Hill-based Chandlers Roofing Supplies – part of Chandlers builders merchants – has celebrated the achievements with tea and cake.
Andrew Cope, managing director, said: “We are all very proud of our achievements. Our team of 210 employees, many of whom have been with us a lifetime, are truly exceptional. This is their success.
“Their knowledge of our vast ranges is second-to-none and that’s why our customers remain so loyal.”
The business has also reported an increase in turnover of just under 20 percent on the previous financial year, with an 18 percent growth in net profit.
While it remains a 13-branch operation, it has grown its staff numbers by a third over the last year.
Dave Horton, manager of the Halesowen branch, said: “Chandlers Roofing Supplies is a unique tight-knit community.
“As an organisation we look after our own and have a strong ethical backbone to the business to look after our customers as well as give back to the local community in which we operate.”
The firm has invested £1.5m in stock to expand the ranges offered and a further £500,000 investment in plant and machinery largely to develop its delivery and distribution service network.
Mr Cope added: “The merchants sector is highly competitive, and while some of the larger players in this sector are struggling, the approach Chandlers Roofing Supplies has taken across the West Midlands has allowed us to flourish.”
