SIGHT loss charity Sandwell Visually Impaired is heading out in Cradley Heath and Oldbury during the next week to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of your eyes.
As part of National Eye Health Week 2018, the charity will be sharing their experiences and providing eye health information, guidance and support.
Sandwell Visually Impaired (SVI) will be running activities at Asda Oldbury on Friday (September 21) and at Tesco Cradley Heath on Monday (September 24) from 10am until 3pm.
A charity spokesman said: “We want to prevent as many people as possible from losing their sight but if you or someone you know is already having sight difficulties, we can help.
“Many of the sight problems that lead to blindness can be prevented or slowed down by treatment if a condition is diagnosed early.
“If you are over 40, an eye test every two years is like insuring your home and belongings, except lost eyesight cannot be replaced like material possessions.
“Many opticians offer free eye tests – so don't be put off by the cost, book your eye test now.”
During the events, SVI will also provide information about their gym and fitness sessions, swimming, archery, trips out, IT support groups, women's group and their newly-launching men's group – providing support and someone to talk to when going through sight loss.
For more information, including becoming a volunteer with SVI, call 0121 525 4810, or pop along to one of the event days.
