The funeral of murder victim Stuart Roe will be held later this month as a fund set up to give him a good send off tops £5,000.

Mr Roe, who owned Mr Trim barbers in Quarry Bank High Street, was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday December 30 shortly after he left the Britannia pub in Halesowen Street, Rowley Regis.

The 34-year-old's funeral will be held at Rowley Regis Crematorium in Powke Lane on Friday February 22, at 1.45pm with a wake afterwards at Spring Meadow Social Club in Cradley Heath.

Mr Roe's cousin Justine Walker, who set up a Go Fund Me page to raise £7,000 towards funeral costs, announced the date on Facebook.

The Go Fund Me fund has hit £5,280 with scores of friends and family leaving tributes to the avid Wolves fan.

Mr Roe, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was a member of the darts team at The Church Tavern pub in Quarry Bank.

Martyn Turley, aged 57, of Whitehouse Street, Tipton, has been charged with murdering Mr Roe and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday January 3.

Turley faces charges of murder and possessing an offensive weapon and a trial date has been set for June 24.

Currently in custody, he will formally enter his plea on February 14.

Police continue to appeal for help to piece together the final moments before Mr Roe's death and want to speak to drinkers who were in the Britannia pub, residents, passersby and anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area that evening.
