A HALESOWEN shop is giving away a new ‘frozenated’ drink for free this Saturday (May 4) – for TEN whole hours.
The Nisa Local in Colley Gate is the first store in England to have installed a Skwishee drinks machine.
The drink – a sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan-friendly take on the American favourite Slushie – has already proven a huge hit with customers.
A video posted by the store introducing the new machine has gone viral on social media with almost 200,000 hits.
Franchise owner Andy Newton said: “It’s been madness. The girls who work in the shop have really got behind it. I think it’s going to go bonkers on Saturday.
“The machine has made a big difference, we’ve gone from just being a convenience store to what I would call a destination store.
“It’s not just pulling in locals – we’ve had people from Oldbury, Kingswinford, Kings Norton, all over, coming in.
“Saturday is a chance for us to give something back and it will be a fun day for everyone with the amount of chaos it’s going to cause!”
Scottish retailer Harris Aslam came up with the idea of launching his own slush brand and installing it in his Nisa stores north of the border.
Andy saw it in a trade magazine, saying: “I quickly texted him because I wanted to be the first in England to get one.”
The machine also features edible straws and 10 per cent of the profits from all Skwishee sales go to aiding clean water projects across the globe.
Saturday’s free giveaway runs from 9am-7pm at the Colley Gate store.
