A MAN in his 20s who had been fighting for life after being attacked outside an Oldbury pub has improved in hospital.

The victim had been in a critical condition after suffering a serious head injury during the incident at the Bulls Head Pub in Birchfield Lane on Sunday (Dec 1) at around 5.50pm.

He is believed to have been beaten by a group armed with items including pool cues in the pub car park.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said today (Wednesday) the victim had undergone surgery and was now in a stable condition - with his injuries no longer thought to be life-threatening.

Police were called to reports of a fight at the sports pub on Sunday.

The car park and pub were sealed off as police forensic teams examined the area on Sunday night and remained closed on Monday morning.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "A man, believed to be in his 20s, had suffered serious injuries following an assault.

"He received specialist trauma care before being transported to hospital for further treatment.

"A second man was discharged on the scene with minor injuries.”
