A Halesowen beauty salon that famously banned gossip magazines is hoping to bring home five top awards.

The CnR Hair Salon is shortlisted for two awards while owner Cara Richards is also in the running for an individual title.

On top of that a hair stylist who works out of the salon is also in the running for two titles.

CnR hit the headlines last year after the tragic death of TV presenter Caroline Flack raised the issue of women’s mental health and the public treatment of some celebrities.

In response Cara banned gossip magazines from her salon.

Cara has been running the salon for nearly four years and is delighted it has been nominated in the national Hair and Beauty Awards for Best Team and Best Salon.

Cara herself is shortlisted in the 'Best Colourist' category while stylist Elizabeth Stafford is nominated for 'Best of Blonde' and 'Best Hairstylist.'

Along with Cara and Elizabeth, the salon also has another stylist who works for herself, Charlotte Smith.

Cara said: “We're a good team, between us all we're finalists for 5 awards in total, which is amazing!”

Cara used the first lockdown to complete a refurb of the salon premises, including a new shop front, and altogether there are 7 people offering a ‘one stop shop’ for treatments, including: Lash extensions and Lash Lift and Tints, waxing; Arcylic and Gel Nails; Microblading, semi permanent eye brows; a nurse who offers, botox, fillers, dermaplaning and more.
