HARROWING CCTV shows the moment a motorbike rider was knocked off his bike by a hit-and-run driver in Halesowen.

Bradley Williams suffered five fractured ribs, a broken finger, whiplash and torn ligaments in his right knee, in the crash on Nimmings Road at its junction with Masters Lane.

The incident happened on Saturday (July 24) with the driver of the dark Mitsubishi Mirage, believed to be male, fleeing the scene and not stopping to check whether Bradley was OK.

The 27-year-old is still recovering from his injuries and will have to have physiotherapy.

He thanked all the people who came to help him after the crash saying: "I just want to say a thank you to everyone who came to my aid and did everything that they could to help.

"I can never thank you all enough, just so you know I’m currently on the mend."

Bradley also urged motorists to be aware of motorbikes on the road in a bid to prevent other riders from becoming victims in crashes.  

For motorcyclists, even a minor accident can be catastrophic.

Injuries to motorcyclists occur out of proportion to their presence on UK roads.

Motorcyclists are just 1 per cent of total road traffic, but account for 19 per cent of all road user deaths.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a motorbike.

"An ambulance and a critical care paramedic attended the scene.

"The motorcyclist, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham after suffering injuries not believed to be life-threatening."
