A MAN has been arrested as police investigate the murder of Matthew Carroll who was killed during a night out in Birmingham.
Mr Carroll, known as Matty, was out with his family on Saturday evening (August 29) when the attack took place just off Broad Street at around 1.30am.
He was taken to hospital with head injuries and was sadly pronounced dead later that day.
A post mortem examination confirmed he died from a blunt force head injury.
A 33-year-old man handed himself into police yesterday (September 1) and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody today (2 September 2) as police continue to question him.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from the forces' homicide team, said: “We continue to support Matthew’s family at this really difficult time.
“We’re working hard to understand exactly what happened and find those responsible.”
Detectives want to speak to those who were in Brindley Place at the time and may have been filming what happened on their mobile phone.
