A HALESOWEN couple who met as teenagers have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Jean and Tony Wort celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a family meal at The Stone Manor Hotel, Kidderminster.
After meeting as teenagers at Philip Harris, Birmingham, where they both worked, they were married on 16th September 1961 at St. Anne’s Church, Moseley.
At the time of their marriage Jean was a scientific instrument maker and Tony an engineer.
They have lived most of their married life in Halesowen.
They have three daughters, Deborah, Jaqueline and Susanne, three sons-in-law, Mark, Nigel and Neil, a granddaughter, Laura and five grandsons, Matthew, Richard, Daniel, Ryan and Jacob.
The pair, both aged 78, were delighted to receive a congratulatory message from the Queen and are looking forward to celebrating many more anniversaries together.
Daughter Susanne Davies said: "They enjoy walking, going on holiday and just generally appreciate spending time with each other."
