A MOTORCYLIST who was left injured in the road in a shocking Halesowen hit-and-run is angry after the car driver was given a fine and community order.

Bradley Williams suffered five fractured ribs, a broken finger, whiplash and torn ligaments in his right knee when he was in a collision with a car driven by Hafiz Muhammad Akbar on Nimmings Road at its junction with Masters Lane.

Harrowing CCTV (below) shows the smash and Akbar fleeing the scene in his Mitsubishi Mirage leaving Bradley lying in the road writhing in pain.

The self-employed scaffolder has been off work for seven months, losing £12k earnings and is still suffering from his injuries which stop him from playing football with his daughter aged seven and son, 6.

He is set to endure another operation to repair ligaments in his knee.

Hafiz Muhammad Akbar, aged 46, of Broadmoor Avenue, Oldbury, admitted being the driver of a vehicle and failing to stop after a road accident whereby personal injury was caused to another person.

He was given a community order and was fined £353, ordered to pay a £35 surcharge and costs of £110 when he appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on March 31. Ten points were added to his licence.

Bradley, who was a scaffolder and roofer working for his father at the time of the accident last July, is angry and doesn't feel that the sentence reflects the severity of his injuries and the devastating effect of the crash on his life. He has been forced to change jobs to become a mechanic.

He said: "I don’t think justice has been served.

"I’m still suffering to this day with complications of my injuries.

"I’ve recently had reconstruction on the ligaments in my knee. That wasn't successful and now I've got to have another operation.

"I continue to have physio but it comes with its issues and complications.

"I’m still unable to play with my kids as much as I used to.

"They ask me to get on the trampoline or play football with them and I can't because of my knee.

"I believe he has gotten off easy regarding my injuries and disruption.

"I'm angry that he's got off lightly.

"In total I’ve had around seven months off work and lost around £12k in income due to being previously self employed,

"Yet the person who hit me has got a community service and a small fine for what he did when driving away from an accident."

Bradley, whose partner is due to give birth to their third child in July, said his solicitor is still fighting to get compensation for his injuries and loss of earnings nine months on from the crash.
