HALESOWEN’S very own ‘Banksy’ has been ‘clowning around’ over the Bank Holiday weekend.
An eye-catching image of a boy clown holding a red balloon has been spotted on the walls of Brooklyn Barbers in Long Lane, Shell Corner.
The intriguing piece of street art, dubbed the work of ‘Halesowen Banksy’, appeared over Easter and is among a growing collection of mystery spray paintings spotted at locations across Halesowen and surrounding areas over the last year.
In March, artwork depicting a young girl sitting down was found on the wall of the Rainbow Hill Chinese takeaway on Coombs Road, while a spray painting of legendary martial arts master Bruce Lee was found outside at MAC Black Belt Academy on Hereward Rise a month earlier.
Street art depicting a young boy on Ivy Street, a boy on the M5 bridge at Quinton, a boy boxer at Benjamin’s in Birmingham Street, an astronaut carrying a Tesco bag at Group Gear Ltd on Bromsgrove Road and a boy holding a boom box by Teamworks Karting in Dudley Road has also been attributed to the elusive artist.
Reader Robert Bannks sent in snaps of the latest artwork.
Halesowen North councillor Stuart Henley was among those who spotted it over the weekend.
Taking to Twitter, he said: “Many locals have been checking the work out.”
