PEOPLE taking part in Dudley's Beat the Street game are invited to Go Wild this week with double points at some of the borough’s parks, waterways and green spaces.
There are events tied in with the themed week too including a Let’s fish session on July 23 at Bumble Hole, from 9.30am to 4pm, with a mobile beat box for visitors to earn double points. Visitors can also learn to fish with the Canal and River Trust's qualified and licensed angling coaches.
One-hour sessions are available to adults and for children aged from six upwards.
All bait, equipment, permits and licence are provided. People need to book and turn up on time on the day.
From July 22 to 24 there’s a Tough Enough to Play family friendly charity event at Dudley Kingswinford RFC. People can earn double points by visiting the nearest beat box no.92 on Saturday July 23 between 11am and 3pm. The event will showcase mental health organisations. There'll be food and live music and four charity rugby matches throughout the weekend.
On July 24 it’s Beattie’s Baton Relay from 1pm to 7pm and people can look out for specially decorated beat boxes close to the Queen's Baton Relay route. People can tap their cards and send in a selfie with a decorated beat box for a chance to get a lucky tap prize. The beat boxes with prizes are: no. 256, 229, 146, 51, 63, 69, 142 and 124.
Already, more than 24,500 people have signed up to the real-life interactive physical activity game and have together walked, cycled and rolled nearly 73,500 miles.
Anyone of any age can take part in the free game. People can pick up a card from one of the distribution points listed at beatthestreet.me/dudley.
Councillor Ian Bevan, Dudley's cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, said: "It’s great to see people out exercising and exploring new areas."
