A HALESOWEN social club which has gone from "strength to strength" has won an accolade from CAMRA.
Somers Sports and Social Club has been named Club of the Year by the Stourbridge and Halesowen branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The club at Grade II listed The Grange on Grange Hill has been given the prestigious award after venues were visited and assessed by local CAMRA members.
CAMRA said "it houses a friendly local bar and club, offering a fine selection of local real ales, along with lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks in traditional and homely surroundings."

Stourbridge & Halesowen CAMRA Press Officer, Steve Pratt, said: “We don’t have too many clubs in our area serving real ale, but those that do thoroughly deserve their awards, particularly after the challenging times caused by the COVID pandemic.
"It’s great to support our local clubs, including our award-winning club, which consistently serves good quality real ale throughout the year.
"Long may it prosper!”
The club was formed in 1951 by Seth Somers, chairman of Walter Somers forgemasters. The building dates from 1709.
Originally home to the Lea family, during the Second World War it housed German and Italian prisoners of war.
Stewardess Sophie-May Jones, who runs the club with her partner Adam Mundon, said: "We pride ourselves on our members being at the heart of what we do.
"Our club is a unique environment, bursting with community spirit and friendship, which has grown from strength to strength in recent years with the welcoming of families and dogs.
"The award is an honour and a culmination of years of hard work."
She thanked chairman Steve Maher, its board of directors and assistant manager Abbie Lowe and "our brilliant team who really are the heart of the club."
She added: "Our ambition is for our club to become the focal point of the Halesowen community and welcome all to join and be a part of this unique club and enjoy our facilities. "
