A ROWLEY Regis nursery is rallying round to help a three-year-old pupil who is battling leukaemia.
Miley Hemming was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) on March 24 - she had been undergoing chemotherapy and bravely fighting the cruel disease - but sadly a routine appointment last week revealed she has a large blood clot on the brain, which means that the treatment has had to stop.
Miley attends Humpty Dumpty's Day Nursery based on Marlow Street in Rowley Regis, which has set up a gofundme appeal called #TeamMiley which has raised more than £4k to help the family.
A group from the nursery also walked the ten miles from its base to Birmingham Children's Hospital dressed in Miley's favourite colour, which is purple, on Saturday (April 29).
Two of Miley's four-year-old friends took part in the walk, along with 22 adults, with sponsorship still coming in.
Nursery manager Hayley Freeman said Miley's mum is a single mother and they want to help her as much as they can.
She said: "We are devastated - Miley is a much-loved little girl at our nursery - happy and kind-hearted.
"She has a very big battle on her hands.
"It's a sad time for us - she's quite unwell now and is sleeping a lot and is in a lot of pain.
"She started chemotherapy quickly, but unfortunately after going for a routine appointment on 27th April she was sadly given the news that she now has a very large blood clot on the brain which has stopped chemotherapy from happening.
"We wanted to do something to help so we walked from the nursery to the hospital - there were 24 of us - 22 adults and two children - four-year-old friends of Miley.
"So far we have raised £1,100 from the walk."
