A man from Dudley has been arrested on suspicion of racially abusing a Birmingham City player at The Hawthorns last weekend.
West Midlands Police said they have detained a 50-year-old man on suspicion of racial abuse towards footballer Juninho Bacuna.
The man was taken into police custody and questioned on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and has since been bailed with strict conditions.
The conditions include not being able to attend any football game in the UK whilst the enquiries are ongoing.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the Halfords Lane stand, who saw or heard anything towards the end of the second half, to come forward as it could help our investigation.
"You can do this via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 and quote 20/197797/24.
"We do not tolerate racist abuse in any form either in football or society in general and we will seek to prosecute anyone who commits hate crime.
"We would like to thank both West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City for their assistance in our ongoing investigation."
West Bromwich Albion has since responded to the incident and suspended the season ticket holder who has been arrested.
A spokesperson for the club said: "The club continues to offer its full support to West Midlands Police's criminal investigation of this matter and remains in contact with Birmingham City to ensure Juninho Bacuna receives the support he requires.
"The club takes a strong stance against all forms of discrimination and will do all it can to ensure anyone found guilty of racism faces the toughest available legal punishment in addition to a lifetime ban from The Hawthorns.
"Albion will continue to work with the Football Association, the EFL and all relevant authorities to rid the game of racism."
