TWO men have appeared in court today (Monday February 26) after being charged following a hit-and-run which left an officer injured.
The men were arrested in Oldbury yesterday morning (Sunday February 25) following the incident in Reservoir Place, Walsall, at around 10.30am on Saturday (February 24).
Saqib Ali, aged 28, was charged with wounding with intent to resist arrest and possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
Awais Majid, aged 21, was charged with assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply.
After being held overnight in police custody they both appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
They were remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 25.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Pollice said the injured officer “is continuing to receive hospital treatment for leg injuries”.
The force said yesterday that the officer “sustained some nasty injuries” but it was hoped they would not be life-changing.
