THERE will be temporary traffic lights for eight weeks while work is carried out to make a crumbling Halesowen wall safe.
Belle Vale will be closed for three days from today (Monday March 18) while Dudley Council contractors carry out work to remove tree stumps so that it can improve the condition and stability of the wall.
Then from Thursday (March 21) there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights for eight weeks.
Councillor Simon Phipps welcomed the work.
He said: "The wall repair on Belle Vale is finally happening after much pushing and chasing from ourselves.
"The whole bank will be regarded and the wall will be reduced in height.
"From 18th March for three days the road will be closed.
"There will then be traffic lights in place for some time whilst works continue.
"I will be asking if this work really does have to take so long so we can reduce the time there will be traffic lights in place.
"Throughout the works, residents can contact me if there are any issues and I will raise this with the council."
A Dudley Council spokesperson said the wall is 250metres long and the first stage of works will incorporate 125m from the junction with Hawne Lane.
They said: "It is anticipated the works to the retaining wall will take eight weeks.
"For the duration of the works every effort will be made to keep inconvenience to residents to a minimum."
