A PATRIOTIC Halesowen takeaway is offering customers fish and chips for just 1p to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Merchants chippie on Halesowen Road will be offering the bargain deal on Thursday June 6, from noon till 8pm, while stocks last.
The deal is being introduced to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings along the Normandy coast during World War II as well as National Fish and Chips Day.
Michael Jordan, who owns Merchants jointly with his brother-in-law Antony Akathiotis said: "It’s going to be a great day and yes we will be selling fish and chips for 1p.
"We will also be collecting donations for the Poppy appeal.
"It's something a bit different.
"The staff are really looking forward to it."
Michael said Merchants, which has just sold its Stourbridge fish and chip shop, has eateries in Halesowen and Bewdley and is a family-run firm.
The D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
Along with the associated airborne operations, it marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe.
