SHELL Corner in Halesowen will fall silent for a remembrance event marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
The remembrance service, at the shell on the corner of Maple Road and Long Lane, will be tomorrow (Thursday June 6) and starts at 11am.
Shell Corner was named after the artillery shell memorial - created as a tribute to those who died during World War One.
The shell went missing in the 70s when there was a revamp of the road network.
A replacement shell was donated by the army and the memorial was restored to its rightful home after a campaign by councillor Stuart Henley.
Stuart said: "Join us for a solemn D-Day remembrance service at The Shell, Shell Corner, Halesowen honouring our fallen heroes on the 80th anniversary.
"Officiated by Rev. Mark Danks of St Paul's, the service begins at 11am.
"All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
"Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start."
