THOUSANDS of revellers enjoyed a big weekend of live music, comedy, entertainment and football in the grounds of Himley Hall and Park at the weekend.
Music fans enjoyed the Musicom festivities, organised by Dudley Council as part of the Black Country Festival.
On Saturday night, the park rocked to the sounds of headline act, Symphonix Rock Orchestra, and tributes to Oasis and the Foo Fighters.
While top tribute acts to stars including Tina Turner, Madness, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé and Fleetwood Mac entertained the crowds on Sunday (July 14) – Black Country Day.
There was also live comedy and performances by local bands.
A live screening of the Spain vs England Euro 24 final brought the weekend to a close on Sunday evening with thousands staying to watch the match.
Councillor Phil Atkins, Dudley’s cabinet member for corporate strategy, said: “Himley Hall and Park once again provided the perfect backdrop for a dazzling weekend of live music, comedy, entertainment and football too.
“Although the football result didn’t go our way and there were plenty of people leaving the park disappointed that England weren’t able to clinch that victory, I’m so pleased we were able to provide the live screening opportunity for everyone.
“Thanks to the thousands who turned out to enjoy the weekend, it’s been wonderful to see people of all ages, including lots of families too, enjoying the festivities and creating such a fantastic atmosphere.
“Thanks to all our live music and comedy acts too for bringing their A game and putting on such memorable performances. An England victory would have certainly been the icing on the cake, we’ll just have to wait a little longer for football to come home.”
The weekend was funded this year thanks to a £365,000 grant from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund - administered by the Government and West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), with the event sponsored by brsk, Halesowen College and Copthorne Hotel.
