VOLUNTEERS at an historic Halesowen garden are inviting people to an open event this weekend.
The 18th-century Leasowes Walled Garden was saved by Halesowen Abbey Trust when it bought the site which was up for sale to developers in 2014.
The trust, which is a registered charity, is inviting people to visit the garden on Saturday (August 24) between 10am and 3pm, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the purchase.
Volunteers have been working hard over the last decade to restore the gardens, on Leasowes Lane, creating a beautiful garden with vegetable patches, an orchard, wildlife meadow and a pond.
A Just Giving appeal ro raise £20k towards its continued restoration has raised just over £5k so far - to donate click here.
A spokesperson for Halesowen Abbey Trust said: "We are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of our purchase and rescue of the garden.
"If you can, come along this Saturday August 24 and show your support.
"We will be open between 10 am and 3pm and light refreshments will be available.
"Park at the Leasowes car park, off Mucklow Hill, and walk up the south valley to our site.
"We would like to see you and entry is free.
"The Halesowen Abbey Trust, who own the site, provide walk leaflets, from the garden, to help you enjoy the surrounding countryside.
"So pick up walk leaflets for future days out."
There will be photos of the garden from the past charting its restoration on show for visitors to see.
