A DOG was rescued by firefighters from a Black Country canal this morning (Wednesday August 28) with an appeal launched to find its owner.
Fire fighters from Smethwick, West Midlands Technical team and Woodgate joined forces to rescue the large black and white dog from the water on Brasshouse Lane in Smethwick.
During this morning, multiple crews from @WMFSSmethwick, @WMFSTechRescue and @WMFSWoodgate rescued a dog from the Birmingham Canal on Brasshouse Lane. The dog is now safe and well with our fire crews, and we are currently trying to locate its owners. pic.twitter.com/HAtwVO8nRc

The dog was found in the water - but its owners were nowhere to be seen.
Fire crews are now searching for the owners of the dog and have posted pictures on their social media feeds.
They posted on X saying: "The dog is now safe and well with our fire crews, and we are currently trying to locate its owners."
