POLICE are investigating allegations of sexual offences involving children at a school in Quinton.
Two former support staff members at Four Dwellings Academy were arrested in July, it was confirmed today (Friday September 6), and police officers have been supporting children and liaising with relevant authorities.
Bosses at Four Dwellings Academy in Quinton have confirmed the investigation centres on two ex-employees and said they have been doing everything they can to support families involved.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said of the investigation: “Two people have been arrested on suspicion of sexual offences involving children.
“A woman has been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a child, and a man was held on suspicion of sexual communication with a child.
“The arrests happened in July and the alleged offences relate to a time when the pair worked at a school in Birmingham.
“They are no longer employed there.
“Both have been released on bail with conditions while the investigation continues.
“We are supporting the children and the school involved and are liaising with the relevant authorities.”
A spokesperson for Four Dwelling Academy said of the situation: “We have written to families to let them know that two ex-employees who were support staff are involved in a police investigation.
“As this is now a police matter, we are clearly not in a position to provide any detail, but we are doing everything we can to support families involved.
“We work hard to make sure that Four Dwellings is a safe and nurturing place in which everyone can thrive, and we appreciate this will be deeply worrying for families. “We are in close contact with the police as they carry out their investigation and they have asked us to remind everyone of the importance of not speculating about the case, particularly on social media.”
