A MAN has been arrested after a pedestrian died after being hit by a car on Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, last night (Saturday October 5).
The man in his 40s died at the scene after being struck by a car, near to The Hawthorns, just before 9pm.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “His family has been informed and is being supported.
“The driver initially stopped at the scene, but then drove away.
“At around 5am today, a man aged 64, was arrested in Birmingham on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink.
“He remains in custody today. A Mitsubishi car has also been recovered as part of the investigation, and the road has now been re-opened.”
