AN online fundraiser has raised £10,000 in memory of a popular teacher killed in a car crash on the A456 Hagley Causeway last weekend.

Mum-of-two Abigail Hudson has been named on social media as the motorist who died in the crash at Wassell Grove last Saturday (October 19).

The collision happened at around 1.15pm and involved an Audi E-Tron, VW Passat, Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia.

Police said the driver of the Audi, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene and a girl travelling with her was taken Birmingham Children’s Hospital with serious injuries; another girl had also been in the vehicle but escaped with minor injuries.

As a show of support to her family, an online fundraiser has been launched on the Go Fund Me website - appealing for donations to help create the dream garden that Abigail, a teacher at Perryfields Primary School in Oldbury, had always wanted for her family.

Family friend Ben Parish, who has organised the fundraiser, said after speaking to relatives it had been agreed to raise funds for a garden in Abigail’s memory and he added: “We've set up a Go Fund Me page to help make Abbi's dream garden wish come true.”

In a statement on Facebook, Old Halesonians RFC shared the fundraising appeal details and said: “Abigail was well-known among our members and held a friendship with one of our committee members. In her memory, a crowdfunding campaign has been established to assist Abigail's family in achieving her dream garden.”

And in just one day it has topped its £10,000 target.

West Mercia Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the crash and have urged anyone with information to contact officers by emailing sciusouth@westmercia.police.uk and quote incident number 00213_i of October 19.

Following the collision, two men, aged 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and they have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
