WEST Midlands Police (WMP) have introduced their newest recruits – eight new pups with some specially-chosen names.
The children of some of the forces’ dog handlers were given the all important task of naming the puppies, which saw them draw inspiration from their favourite Disney movies.
Baloo, Jasmine, Jessie, Maui, Flynn, Tiana, Merida and Mirabel will go to live with volunteers in temporary homes as they begin their training to become four-legged crime fighters.
The children looked to beloved characters from Disney classics such as The Jungle Book and Aladdin, as well as some of the movie giant’s more recent successes like Moana and Encanto, when making their decisions.
Socialising is an integral part of their development, for their wellbeing as well as future professional work, with volunteers ensuring the puppies will get out and about and explore the area.
WMP said: “Police dogs are integral to the work we do in protecting the public and fighting crime. We couldn’t do this job without our four-legged heroes.
“We hope that these puppies go ‘to infinity and beyond."
