PARENTS, carers, grandparents, and children have been diligently knitting red poppies for a Halesowen school's memorial remembrance wreath.
Lutley Primary reached out to local community, inviting people to contribute knitted poppies and was delighted by the fantastic response.
Lutley's Headteacher, Alex Hall, assembled a wreath of poppies, which was laid at the war memorial in Halesowen during the remembrance parade on Sunday November 10.
Alex said: “The community’s response has been heartwarming.
"It’s wonderful to see everyone come together to honour our servicemen and women.”
Rafe Elespe, a year six student, was selected by school staff to lay the wreath at the memorial on behalf of the school community.
Rafe’s father Chris Elespe, who is currently serving in the Royal Air Force, was able to attend the memorial service in Halesowen.
Headteacher Alex Hall also attended the event, joining Rafe, his family, and many other community members, including past and present pupils representing local groups such as guides, cubs, and scouts.
He said: “Remembrance is such an important time for us all.
"We learn about its significance in school every year through dedicated curriculum activities.
"It has been an honour to represent the school at this special event and a wonderful opportunity for Rafe to lay the wreath on our behalf.”
