A STRING of roads will be closed in Halesowen town centre today.
The roads will be closed from 6am till 8pm today (Saturday November 16) while the town's Christmas lights switch-on event takes place.
The roads are:
Hagley Road from Queensway Roundabout to Summer Hill.
Summer Hill the entire length.
Great Cornbow from Hagley Street to Bull Ring.
Bull Ring from Great Cornbow to Birmingham Street.
Birmingham Road from the junction of Hagley Street to 10metres west of that point.
A spokesperson for Dudley Council said: "There is no practical diversion route for this closure."
There is a festive market, children’s rides and performances with the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Hilary Bills, set to switch on the lights at 5pm.
The event is in association with Halesowen BID.
Councillor Hilary Bills, Mayor at Dudley Council, said the switch-on will "mark the beginning of the festivities and help to boost town centre trade."
She added: “Our fantastic local businesses and organisations help to support us every year."
