A PLEA has gone out for Christmas cards for a disabled 23-year-old in Colley Gate.

Jack Moore has an array of health issues, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy and complex learning disabilities, and he’s also wheelchair-bound, non-verbal and fed via a tube.

But Jack, who lives with his mum and dad with 24/7 care and help from district nurses, loves Christmas and for the last few years his family has been appealing for cards to bring a smile to his face and help brighten up his room during the festive period.

The first time an appeal was issued he received 156 cards, the second time the number rose to 212, then last year he received a staggering 724 cards from kind-hearted members of the public.

This year he’s hoping for even more.

Jack’s mum Paula Moore, who runs at inclusive disco at The Laurels in Colley Gate from 2pm to 5pm every first Saturday of the month, said: “Jack loves his room to be decorated up for any occasion especially Christmas.”

She said Jack, who attended Chadsgrove special school in Bromsgrove from the age of three to 18, “loves looking at all his cards around his room” and she added: “He is a very happy young lad, always smiling; he loves being out and about.

“We are trying to beat 724 cards from last year.”

Anyone wishing to send a card to Jack is asked to post or deliver it to The Laurels, 100 Windmill Hill, Halesowen B63 2BY.
