VISITORS to Homer Hill Park are being made aware of changes to parking enforcement in the area, following a recent consultation.
Dudley Council has confirmed that people who park on double yellow lines on Benjamin Drive risk receiving fixed penalty notices (PCNs) from the start of next month.
Parking enforcement on the narrow private road was suspended during the local authority’s consultation, which revealed that 65 per cent of participants who use the street were experiencing difficulties with access.
Survey results included feedback from staff, residents and visitors to Lime Gardens Retirement Living Accommodation, with concerns being raised over possible access issues for emergency vehicles due to parked cars blocking the road.
Councillor Damian Corfield, Dudley Council's cabinet member for highways and environment, said: “I’d like to thank residents, park users and members of the Friends Group for taking part in this consultation.
“Looking at the feedback, it’s clear we cannot allow people to park on the double yellow lines of Benjamin Drive as emergency vehicles might not be able to access the retirement accommodation or Homer Hill Park.
“We appreciate that this may result in some difficulty parking, and I would encourage those who wish to visit the park to consider alternative transport options.”
Enforcement is set to come into force from early December and will include Saturdays and Sundays.
