A man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in Halesowen.

West Midlands Police said they were called to Manor Way just before 8pm yesterday (Monday, December 2).

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the scene.

On arrival, the driver of the black Renault Clio, a man aged 20, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Officers have urged drivers to find alternative routes as they remain at the scene this morning (Tuesday, December 3). 

His family are being supported at this difficult time. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "On arrival, crews found one car had come off the road and collided with a tree.

"Sadly, it quickly became clear that the driver, a man, had sustained critical injuries and nothing could be done to save him.

"He was declared deceased at the scene." 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Officers were called to Manor Way just before 8pm.

"The driver of the black Renault Clio, a man aged 20, was pronounced dead at the scene, and we are supporting his family at this tragic time.

"We remain at the scene this morning while the investigation continues and are urging motorists to find alternative routes.

"Manor Way remains closed from the roundabout at Grange Road/Grange Hill to the roundabout at Hagley Road.
